Hello, my name is Harrison Davison. I am a physics student and private tutor. I am currently working in biophysics, using molecular dynamics to study the behavior of candidalysin. I am also interested in atomic, molecular, and optical physics, and I will soon begin a PhD in physics at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Physics
I studied physics and mathematics at the University of Missouri, graduating summa cum laude with a double major in both subjects. My physics degree included honors and an emphasis in astronomy.
What has always drawn me to physics is the way that it helps us to better understand the everyday world. I enjoy taking things that seem ordinary, such as gravity, temperature, and fluids, and giving them a closer look to understand what is really happening. I am particularly drawn to precision measurements that reveal details about the physical world that are normally undetectable.
As I look towards the start of graduate school next fall, I find myself most interested in areas like Bose-Einstein condensates, atomic clocks, atomic simulation, and chemical physics. I am looking forward to seeing where graduate study takes me.
Outside of physics
Music is perhaps my longest-time interest. I particularly enjoy vocal music, which I feel is the most personal musical medium. In high school, I was involved in choir, and I am getting back into vocal training. My favorite songs are Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan and Somebody to Love by Queen.
Games I like to play include strategy board games like chess, go, and Catan, as well as video games like Halo. I also enjoy table tennis, skiing, and hiking.
